Cosmic Train outfinishes More Memories in Crescent City Derby

Eaton Sales grads Cosmic Train and More Memories staged a thrilling stretch duel in Saturday’s $75,000 Crescent City Derby at the Fair Grounds, with Cosmic Train getting the best of his fellow 3-year-old by a head in the 1 1/16-mile race.

After breaking last in the field of 10, Cosmic Train fell some 15 lengths off the lead in the first half-mile, while More Memories was much closer to the front, some four lengths off the pace. More Memories was battling for the lead at the top of the stretch, while Cosmic Train, now in full gear, was closing swiftly. The eventual winner split horses in upper stretch, then locked in with More Memories in the final furlong. The top two were a half-dozen lengths clear of the field at the wire, finishing up in 1:43.78 on a fast track.
