Interstatedaydream takes Indiana Oaks (G3) for second graded win

Interstatedaydream made it two graded wins in a row on Saturday with a popular victory in the $200,000 Indiana Oaks (G3) at Horseshoe Indianapolis.

The 3-year-old filly, who Eaton Sales sold and consigned on behalf of her breeder William Graham for $105,000 to Rascal Bloodstock at the 2020 Keeneland January sale, banked $117,600 for the win and has now earned $468,825 for her owner Flurry Racing Stables LLC.

Sent away the heavy 3-10 favorite in the field of seven 3-year-old fillies, Interstatedaydream tussled with stablemate Patna for the lead through a half-mile in :48.26 and six furlongs in 1;12.55. Interstatedaydream took the lead midway on the turn, only to have Runaway Wife surge past her coming into the stretch. Interstatedaydream gathered herself and re-rallied to take the lead for good with a furlong to run, then drew clear late to stop the timer in 1:43.78 for the 1 1/16-miles on a “good” main track.

“We’re going to let some of these fillies like Nest and Secret Oath kind of duke it out maybe this summer,” said winning trainer Brad Cox of the filly’s future. “If the Cotillion (G1, Sept. 24 at Parx) comes up the way we’d like, that could be a good spot as well. We need to take a swing at a Grade 1 at some point, and that could be one I’ve kind of eyeballed.”

Interstatedaydream on the Black Eyed Susan S. (G2) on Preakness day and was third in the Ashland S. (G1) this spring at Keeneland. She also finished second in the Adirondack S. (G2) as a 2-year-old.
