JAXON TRAVELER PROVES BEST IN STAR DE NASKRA S.

Jaxon Traveler secured his third career stakes win in Saturday’s $75,000 Star de Naskra S., winning the six-furlong contest by three lengths.

The 3-year-old colt, who Eaton Sales sold on behalf of breeder Lenny Pineau for $80,000 to Grassroots Training and Sales at the 2019 Keeneland September Yearling sale, has been a picture of consistency. His overall record now stands at 5-3-1 in nine starts (seven in stakes races), with earnings of $390,210.

With the Star de Naskra field reduced to just three after a pair of scratches, Jaxon Traveler broke on top, then relinquished the lead to Cry No More, who led through a quarter-mile in :22.56. The hot pace continued around the turn, with Jaxon Traveler on nearly even terms after a half in :44.94. Responding to vigorous urging from Sheldon Russell, Jaxon Traveler pulled away late to stop the timer in 1:10.21 on a fast track.

Owned by West Point Thoroughbreds, Jaxon Traveler was undefeated at two, winning the Maryland Juvenile. His 2021 slate includes a win in the $200,000 Bachelor S. at Oaklawn Park as well as placing in the Chick Lang S. (G3) and Quick Call S. (G3).
