Ocean Safari rallies to take Gulfstream Park’s Honey Ryder S.

Eaton Sales grad Ocean Safari got her first career stakes win Saturday with a half-length victory in the $75,000 Honey Ryder S. over the Gulfstream Park turf course.

The dark bay 3-year-old was third for most of the “about” one-mile trip. It wasn’t until the top of the stretch that she swung three-wide to take aim at the leaders. Omixochitl looked to have the win sewed up with a furlong to go, but Ocean Safari would not be denied, surging to the lead in the final 70 yards to secure the win.

Ocean Safari was consigned by Eaton on behalf of breeders Cricket Hooper and Athen Woods LLC to the 2020 Keeneland January sale, where she was purchased by D2 sales. The filly has gone on to post a record of 2-2-1 from six starts, earning $106,190.

Ocean Safari is out of the stakes winner Media Access and has a pair of stakes winning siblings.
