TRUTH HURTS DELIVERS BLOWOUT WIN IN $100,000 PERFECT STING S.

Truth Hurts drew off from Piedi Bianchi and odds-on Velvet Crush in upper stretch to score a 5 3/4-length victory in Saturday’s $100,000 Perfect Sting S. at Belmont Park.

Eaton Sales consigned Truth Hurts for Windhaven Farm at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, where she sold to $35,000 for Jorge Wagner. The 4-year-old has gone on to win $187,575 J Stables LLC and Chad Summers, who is also the filly’s trainer.

The Perfect Sting was switched to the main track due to rain. With the field reduced to four, Truth Hurts and Piedi Bianchi dueled closely through a half-mile in :47.54. Truth Hurts began to pull clear with three furlongs to run and widened her lead all the way to the wire as she covered the mile in 1:37.48 over a sloppy racetrack.

“We put (blinkers) on her last week and at that point, we were ready (to wait) for an allowance race at Saratoga, but we saw the weather forecast here,” Summers said. “We thought if it came off (the turf), we’d take a chance. Everything worked out well.”

Truth Hurts, a daughter of Tonalist out of the Distorted Humor mare Witty Gal, was bred by William D. Graham in Ontario, Canada.
